A couple of weeks ago I headed into London to meet Dave Cornthwaite and his Swim 1000 crew. The crew were meeting up for the first time for some team bonding and a spot of paddling on the Thames thanks to the Active 360 guys. In exactly 1 months time, Dave and his team will set off on his 7th expedition where he will be swimming 1000 miles of the lower Missouri river in America. The brave souls travelling with him for support and encouragement were all strangers before showing an interest in Dave’s latest expedition and they will be travelling along the river behind him on stand up paddle boards, kayaks and canoes. Dave and the guys from Active 360 gave them all a crash course introduction to stand up paddle boarding in the stable grounds of Bishop’s Park, Fulham before venturing onto the murky water of the Thames. Everybody took on the challenge with gusto (some might say like ducks to water) and I have to say Dave could not have picked a better support team to follow behind him. Each one of them brings something to the Swim 1000 table, from medical expertise to nutritional advice and every single one of them will have a big role to play in the success of the journey.
